Fire broke out early this morning (30 Nov) at the historic café in Aix, Les Deux Garcons.
According to La Provence, 65 fire-fighters tackled the blaze with four fire-engines and three big ladder-vehicles. Eleven people were evacuated by the fire-fighters. There’s no information at present about their well-being.
Specialists have been called in due to risks of collapse at the centuries-old building.
The café is currently closed due to transfer of ownership.
In New York, this is something done by the mafia or some such bad actors.
An interesting one to watch!
Oh how sad, let’s hope that this historic building can be saved. To imagine the Cours without Les deux Garçons is not possible.
Thank you Lynne for your up to date information as so often.

I expect they can do something but it won’t be the same, ever, will it?
Oh dear!!! What a loss. Prayers for the victims of the fire.
Fortunately all people asleep in the building were brought out safely; some good news there at least….
This is terrible! First the trees and now this. It’s been a tough period for the Cours.
Yes the passers-by yesterday morning were clearly shocked. Wonder what will happen next?
Oh no! That place is such an iconic fixture on the Cours Mirabeau.
It’s awful….
