Looks like the 3-year renovation at Piscine Yves Blanc is going well and that the pool will re-open in September (yay!). The main work of enlarging the pools and developing changing rooms and offices is done; now it’s over to the plumbers, electricians and tilers. One new offer will be ‘a l’eau sous les étoiles’ – late night swimming on Fridays.
Total cost = 21 million euros
Work is also ongoing at the rugby ground, the Stade Maurice David, where the vision is to build a great team and presence in the game for Aix, rather like at Toulon. So a new stand is being built on the north side. This should protect the site from the wind and increase the capacity of seats from 4000-6000. Out front, there will be ‘une entrée monumentale’ with ticket offices, a boutique and an ‘espace de convivialité’. The whole complex will be serviced by the new l’Aixpress bus, and now I understand why they are excavating 600 new parking places under the big roundabout (Rondpoint Colonel Jeanpierre) beside the stadium. Total cost = 18 million euros, and it will look like this:
do you know if the pool is re-opening is on schedule? I plan to come to Aix early next JULY 2019 and am a BIG swimmer
It was supposed to reopen this month but one website says it will be the end of 2018.
I’m sure it will be open by next summer! The pool at Vennelles near Aix is super.
