‘Marie Georgette’ is tucked away in Aix’s Passage Agard, just off the cours Mirabeau.
It’s the creation of two brothers whose stated aim is to offer ‘specialities new-yorkaises et londoniennes’ adapted to French tastes and based on quality local ingredients.
The menu has lots of creative burgers with good home-made sauces, salads and, Fri-Sun lunchtimes, brunch. Here’s an extract from their menu:
Formules brunch :
Jus de fruits frais pressés, œufs brouillés à la truffe , œufs Bénédicte, clubs sandwich, burgers maison…
Salades créatives, Lobster roll, Veal roll ( pain viennois, veau haché poêlé et crème de truffe)…
Panacotta au Nutella, Cheesecake, Mousse au chocolat blanc…
They pride themselves on having burger buns made specially by a local boulanger and you can really taste the difference. Chips are freshly made in-house and are delicious….as are all the desserts.
I was very happy to see vegeburger on the menu – it was very good indeed. La belle-fille Aixcentric enjoyed her large salad while petit-fils Aixcentric had a simple steak-frites and grenadine.
The trend towards café gourmands for afters here in France is fun – you get to taste their repertoire of desserts without having too heavy a finale. Not sure if this has travelled in the reverse direction yet and caught on in NY or London?
It was very busy on Saturday lunchtime when we visited…dining areas on both floors were full, so do book. It’s been open 9 months now and seems to be a popular spot. The brothers called it after their maternal grandmother Marie-Georgette…she should be proud of the restaurant in her name.
Open: Tues-Sun, 11-15; 19-22hrs.
