FAMM is a new chapter in the career of Christian Levett who created the very impressive Musée d’Art Classique de Mougins. This mixed Egyptian, Greek and Roman works with modern pieces which took their inspiration from the classical world.
He had renovated a 400sq m village house in the heart of Mougins to show his collection: visitors could glide between glossy floors past ancient stone walls on a super-smooth lift to see the displays. Then, after 12 years, he took the very radical route of packing up the contents, shipping them for auction in London, and creating a totally new concept: Europe’s first private museum of women’s art, FAMM, Femmes Artistes du Mougins.
There are over 100 paintings, drawings and sculptures to see and here is what is waiting when you step into the glass lift.
Floor 0 / Ground Floor: Upon entering, the first gallery immerses you in a period marked by the iconic works of Impressionist masters. Then, the space transitions to Surrealism, a realm where the conscious and the unconscious meet, and where incongruous elements, dreams, and fantasies harmoniously juxtapose.
Floor 1: This floor is dedicated to the 20th century, and more specifically to abstraction. The large formats and the strong impact of the artworks immerse the viewer in a world where the laws of nature have been supplanted by a bold and deconstructed artistic language.

Floor 2:Leaving behind a gallery pulsating with the raw energy of spontaneous brushstrokes and abstract forms, depicted in an array of styles and vector of powerful stories, the human body takes centre stage on the 2nd floor
Floor – 3:Last but not least, the lower ground floor gallery celebrates 21st-century female artists. Here, they express themselves through classical themes of art history, brilliantly asserting their legitimacy in the art world and their undisputed place in museums.
