Today, I’m passing on a tip for a good place to stay in town.  Some English friends last week were delighted with their choice of self-catering accommodation, Loft 52, which is a 20 minute walk from the centre.  ‘It’s peaceful there.  You can relax in their garden after a long day’s sight-seeing.  We thought it was lovely,’ they said.

This sleek, sound-proofed loft, situated at 52 Traverse Baret, has a kitchenette, private parking, heating and AC, and free wifi.  The only downside according to our friends was that the wifi was weak and there weren’t any English-speaking channels on the TV.

Anyway, I have been asked in the past about accommodation so thought this info might be useful.  It can be booked through www.booking.com.

Alternatively, the Office du Tourisme have just launched Vivre Aix, a hotel-discounting programme which runs from 1st November to 31st March.  A number of the town’s hotels are offering 2 night for the price of 1, excl. tax and breakfast.  Details on their website.  Quite a few French towns are doing this now to boost visitor numbers in winter – a good time to go off exploring if you can and the weather plays along.
