It’s all change next week for the markets.  The chalets for the Christmas market are now nearly all in place down the south side of the cours Mirabeau and so the Tuesday and Thursday markets are being moved from now until 27th Dec.  The new location for the 87 stalls is in the Allées Provençales –  here are the details: planMARCHEtextileNOEL

The swish new paving in the Allées Provençales will be extended over the next few months to run right round the Rotonde.  All parking will be banned as apparently there is now sufficient underground and there will be lots of trees planted.  The existing news and flower kiosks will be updated.  At the moment, work has started on the Place Jeanne d’Arc.  They will then tackle the other side of the cours Mirabeau, and finally the bit outside the old tourist office which will include the new Apple store.

The ave des Belges is due for a makeover too (lots of trees) and will link up with the new gare routier which has embarked on a 20m€ rebuild.  This will have 20 bus platforms and France’s largest mur vegetalisé.   There’s an exhibition on all this at the Hall d’Expo, 4 rue Lapierre – here is an artist’s impression:
