…apart of course from the 2 hr Sculpture and Architecture walk through their 600 acres of vineyards; then there are sweeping views right over to the mountains from the summit; and it all can be rounded off with a meal at one of their eating places, 3 restaurants and a café/ terrasse.
But this summer you can also see:
- Recently installed, ‘Box Car’ by Bob Dylan
The world-famous singer, song-writer and Nobel laureate has crafted 7 tonnes of iron to form his box car, now on rails at the vineyard. It rolled into place late May and the Guardian commented:
Railways are a repeated feature of Dylan’s painting, and he wrote about them in his memoir, Chronicles: Volume One: “I’d seen and heard trains from my earliest childhood days and the sight and sound of them always made me feel secure. The big boxcars, the iron ore cars, freight cars, passenger trains, Pullman cars. There was no place you could go in my home town without at least some part of the day having to stop at intersections and wait for the long trains to pass.” Read full review here: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2022/may/11/bob-dylan-unveils-his-largest-ever-sculpture-of-a-railway-freight-car
Also on view, his paintings, ‘Drawn Blank in Provence’, Dylan’s first art exhibition in France. Until 15 August.
2. ‘L’Eau et Le Reve’ a show of works by Zhou Li
Large colourful abstracts line the walls of the Old Store Winehouse Gallery, until 4 September. The artist took inspiration from the river in front of his house to produce these paintings during the pandemic.
3. Moments of Affection, photography from Mary McCartney
Although she has been a photographer for 30 years, this is her first show in France. Twenty prints from her personal archive illustrate her theme, Affection. The photo here is entitled, Love. Until 4 September.
