It’s back after two years’ absence. The very Provencal celebration of different breeds of goat, La Fete de la Chevre, will be taking place on Sunday 3 April at Rognes. The whole village will be en fete with cheese and dairy stalls, local wines to taste and buy, and some delightful goats to pat.
Having been with le petit fils Aixcentric, in the past, I’ve been impressed with the provision for children, with a colourful roundabout for the little ones (pedalled by a lady who simultaneously sings and plays a guitar, impressive) and tented crafts areas for cutting out and colouring … goats of course.
The restaurants will have goats cheese-themed menus, or you can buy items from the stalls in the square and find a place on one of the long tables to enjoy your impromptu picnic.
There is a carpark but it quickly fills up. Pouncing on a space as you drive into the village can be easier.
