…as it always does.  It’s just the perfect backdrop for filming and ‘Les Ombres Rouges‘ is no exception.

The six episodes tell a tale of murder, kidnapping and extortion set in the garrigue high above La Ciotat and, closer to home, a sumptuous hotel on the route de Cezanne, between Aix and Le Tholonet – views of the Sainte-Victoire included.  It’s very fast-moving, and a little violent for me in places (no idea someone shot in a swimming pool would make such a mess), but rest assured incredibly glamorous French flics are on the case to find the baddies. On Channel 4 catch-up, and thanks to Marilyn for the recommendation.  In French with English subtitles.

Elsewhere, Netflix to be precise, the fourth and final series of ‘Call My Agent’ has dropped, as I now know we must say.  ‘Dix Per Cent’ as the original is called, has been a hit since its launch in 2015.  Set in a Parisian talent agency, each episode stars a renowned French celeb playing themselves, and sending themselves up in the process.  In parallel, the private lives of the 4 chief agents, and the tensions between them, are being played out.  The new series starts with Charlotte Gainsbourg and will also feature Jean Reno and US star Sigourney Weaver.  In French with English sub-titles.
