‘1001 Herbes‘ is a new branch of the chain of stores specialising in products based on CBD (cannabinoide), the non-hallucinegenic part of the cannabis plant. They offer a full range of different oils targeting various stress or anxiety-related issues as well as holistic healthcare…plus you can book in for a massage from one of their specialists. Not far away is the famous Passage Agard, a centuries-old alley-way between the Place Verdun and the Cours Mirabeau. It narrows significantly before you can pop out onto the Cours, due to a stubborn owner at no.57 who wouldn’t sell to Felicien Agard, the developer back in 1846. It runs through what was, until its destruction during the French Revolution, a sprawling Carmelite convent and chapel. As you walk along, it’s easy to spot the remains of the cloisters, and the cosmetics store Sephora has inherited a beautiful vaulted ceiling. Anyway, the 90m passage has been acquired by the Sebban group who will be involving historians and architects as well as the town authorities before embarking on its ‘relooking’. I thank Dympna for a heads-up on these changes.
A quick walk away is the Petite Rue Sainte-Jean where the owner of the eponymous restaurant Mickael Féval is celebrating his award of a Michelin star this week. His dishes on the website certainly look impressive. The restaurant is currently closed of course but has a take-away lunch menu available Fridays and Saturdays.
