At last – and it’s official:
the chalets can go up and the Christmas market will be open 10th – 31st December.
After much negotiation, forty-nine chalets will soon be spreading down the cours Mirabeau – the only proviso this year is that any food sold must be take-away only. So the traditional hot spicy wine will still be for sale but no lingering round the usual wine-barrels with friends.
Great news for the stall-holders and let’s hope the fact that the cafes and restaurants aren’t open doesn’t put people off coming into town, which produce market stall-holders have claimed.
The santons market has re-opened as has the textile market which will now be temporarily situated in the Allées Provencales.
And the Christmas tree will be in the Place des Precheurs…
All together now: ‘It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!‘
That is GREAT news!
