Robert Louis Stevenson’s magnificent story, Treasure Island, complete with scary pirates will be streamed from tomorrow night for one week.
“It’s a dark, stormy night. The stars are out. Jim, the inn-keeper’s granddaughter, opens the door to a terrifying stranger. At the old sailor’s feet sits a huge sea-chest, full of secrets. Jim invites him in – and her dangerous voyage begins.”
In fact RLS spent over a year in the south of France, for health reasons, and corrected proofs of Treasure Island while living in Hyeres in 1883. He wrote to a friend in 1891, “I was only happy once: that was at Hyeres”.
