Isn’t France changing? I’d never have thought a karaoke bar would open in Marseille, but the quartier de la Préfecture will soon be host to Back To Bac, a centre for cocktails with private rooms for karaoké parties.
I recently did this with a group of friends in Japan and, despite my misgivings (lots!), we had the most fantastic evening, such fun.
Back to Bac will have 6 rooms for 4-20 ‘chanteurs’ who can choose from 33,000 songs. Meanwhile the cocktail bar will welcome non-singers with a dozen original drinks, served by ‘une barmaid experte en mixologie’. Even more un-French is the menu of different flavoured pop-corn, specially brought in from Belgium. Is Belgium pop-corn central for Europe? Who Knew?
It all sounds great fun – I wonder how it will go down with the Marseillais?
That sounds like a fun evening!
I’d love to go
