My post on Buffalo Bill grabbed people’s attention and I was warmly recommended the books of James Welch who wrote about the era: thank you too to Peter for his description of ‘Heart Song of Charging Elk’, by Welch, which tells the incredible story of a Sioux Indian who was left behind in Marseille. (Original post and Peter’s description of book here: https://aixcentric.com/2020/02/06/the-day-buffalo-bill-visited-aix/)
I was delighted too by an email from Paul in Wales who explained that Buffalo Bill’s train also pulled into Dolgellau, Meirionnydd in 1904. Paul’s blog focuses on the Mawddach estuary (https://mariansonthemawddach.com/)
Thanks to him for this poster which is much more explanatory than the simple one in Aix – it gives lots of detail of what people would have seen. It must have been so foreign to them and so thrilling.
