First off, the bottom of the Cours Mirabeau Friday evening which is hosting a huge Electroshock concert………unless of course you’re a fan of ‘Petit Biscuit’ for instance, and are one of the lucky 15,000 ticket-holders.
No-one can enter without a ticket and ID, say the town authorities, who have imposed strict ‘fan-zone’ security and organised navettes to take people safely back to the parking relais. Giant screens and light shows are promised. Traffic restrictions will be in place around the Rotonde.
Best avoided if you were planning a quiet aperitif or post-prandial stroll on the Cours!
Also to avoid if value your peace-of-mind would be the screening of a new fuller-length version of The Shining at the Cézanne. Starring Jack Nicholson as a demented would-be author in an isolated hotel, this has to be one of the scariest films ever. Sorry to be such a wuss, but since seeing it, I have been incapable of walking down an empty hotel corridor without an image of those creepy little twins.
It has won plaudits – It really is a tour-de-force by Nicholson and the film has been praised as a psychological masterpiece. Just not one for a peaceful evening’s viewing in Aix!
In my neighborhood, Prospect New Town, Longmont Colorado, our immediate neighbor’s nieces do a fantastic job of opening the door as the twins.
Ooooof! I bet that gives people a fright!
