…for a week. It seems unbelievable that such a venerable institution asLes Deux Garcons would be closed down for 7 days, but that is what happened suddenly, yesterday afternoon.
‘Fermeture administrative avec execution immédiate’ was the order, and waiters rushed to turn away customers and fold up tables and chairs. Quite a shock for the 40 employees, townsfolk and tourists, to see service halted after 325 years.
So what caused this? Apparently back in December, there was an alleged incident at a private party on the first floor. The Deux Garcons management are contesting these facts and point to the serious financial consequences of being closed down during such a busy period, in the festival run-up.
As Aixcentric followers will know, this isn’t the first time the authorities have cracked down on irregularities in town – in April, 5 restaurants in the Place Richelme were closed temporarily for employing people without papers.

They are being really strict this year….
