…for a week.  It seems unbelievable that such a venerable institution asLes Deux Garcons would be closed down for 7 days, but that is what happened suddenly, yesterday afternoon.

‘Fermeture administrative avec execution immédiate’ was the order, and waiters rushed to turn away customers and fold up tables and chairs.  Quite a shock for the 40 employees, townsfolk and tourists, to see service halted after 325 years.

The Deux Garcons management are contesting these facts and point to the serious financial consequences of being closed down during such a busy period, in the festival run-up.

As Aixcentric followers will know, this isn’t the first time the authorities have cracked down on irregularities in town – in April, 5 restaurants in the Place Richelme were closed temporarily for employing people without papers.
