The big summer show at MuCEM opens today. It’s a celebration of the work of French painter and sculptor Jean Dubuffet who founded the ‘Art Brut’ movement. There’s a good account of his long and financially successful career here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Dubuffet
The exhibition brings together 290 works and objects from major European collections and should provide a perfect opportunity to learn more about this experimental artist. I had to miss the press event on Tuesday so will have to review this in more detail at a later date…………
It’s on until 2nd September – MuCEM is closed on Tuesdays.
*** Open til midnight on Saturday 18th May for la Nuit Européenne des Musées. Free entry after 18:00hrs. There will be music and dancing from the ballet National de Marseille as well as local dance students. A special display of ‘costumes constraintes’ will be animated by fashion students and Emmaus Point Rouge. What a special evening!
Hi Lynne! Hope you’re well!
I was just scanning thru your latest post about Dubuffet. Did you know he was the owner of le Château de l’Arc, at Fuveau/Rousset? It’s were the Golf Club is and the new International School.
Hope to speak soon!
