What a treat…six restaurants at the beautiful village of Saint-Paul-de-Vence are offering special menus for Easter Sunday and Monday. Here are details: https://www.saint-pauldevence.com/restaurations/declinaisons-gourmandes-autour-des-fetes-de-paques/
Saint-Paul is chock-full of little galleries and boutiques which line the narrow streets climbing up to the church at the top. It was the home of Marc Chagall who painted the village several times. You could walk off your Easter lunch by following the picture trail which has illustrations at his painting-spots. ( Brochures here: https://www.saint-pauldevence.com/nos-brochures-2/)
It’s a very short drive across to the Fondation Maeght which is home to one of Europe’s largest collections of contemporary art. Sometimes they clear the decks to exhibit special shows, and right now there is a newly-curated choice from the permanent collection which should be worth the trip. The gardens are fascinating too, with some quirky works by Joan Miro and a wonderful restored Romanesque chapel. Plus the café and furnishings are by Giacometti…..
On the subject of gardens, the Cote d’Azur is celebrating the spring by having a garden festival with ‘pop-up gardens’ and a programme of events. Their website has handy maps for having, say, a walk round gardens in Antibes. https://festivaldesjardins.departement06.fr/festival-des-jardins-de-la-cote-d-azur-14431.html
