As a long-standing Picard fan (it’s really good frozen food plus it’s at the end of my road!), I am thrilled to find that certain items are now available for home delivery via Ocado in the UK.
There are butter croissants, patisseries, little feuilletés for apéro time, in other words lots of French goodies. When in the UK, I will be happy to be able to order their bags of frozen artichoke bases which I haven’t found in England; they are bigger than the ones in jars, and just what’s needed for making ‘Fonds d’Artichauts aux Duxelles’: you need…
18 artichoke bases (ie one bag); 500g mushrooms; 2 onions; butter and cheese; crème fraiche
- Cook artichokes in boiling salted water with a squirt of lemon juice
- Sauté chopped onions then chopped mushrooms in a little butter. Stir in 2 tbsps. of crème fraiche. Season to taste
- Stuff the artichokes and put in lightly-oiled gratin dish
- Top with grated cheese. Bake til golden – about 15 mins.
This came from a French magazine ages ago. It makes rather a lot of stuffing but you can cut down quantities, or do a couple of stuffed courgettes too. Bon ‘Ap!
