Let’s start with Harry Callahan, the Director of Photography at Chicago’s Institute of Design back in the fifties who decided to spend a year out in Aix. He photographed the countryside, his wife Eleanor, but also, in b&w, the rather sombre, crumbling post-war streets of Aix. Looks fascinating. ‘ Harry Callahan, French Archives, Aix-en-Provence, 1957-1958’ begins on Saturday at the Musée Granet and runs until July 21st.
Cinema now and this is a good weekend to go as you can take advantage of the ‘Printemps du Cinema’ promotion, now in its 20th year. At 4€ entry for any film, it boosts numbers across France.
And finally, hundreds and hundreds of English books will be on sale at bargain prices at the Anglo American Group of Provence’s very popular sale. They say: ‘As usual, we will have a huge selection of books, fiction and non-fiction on sale. Everything from cookbooks, travel books, poetry, the classics, contemporary fiction and children’s books will be on sale at very low prices.’ Sunday 17th March – not to be missed…..
These sound interesting ….
I think so too….
