If you are visiting the museums at Palais Longchamp, there is a warm and friendly traditional Marseille bar right opposite. The Comptoir Longchamp has everything a local French bar should:
red and white gingham table-covers, an old zinc bar, a blackboard menu and a good chef. I had vegetarian linguine with courgettes and artichokes in a tasty lemon sauce, while my friend tucked into Thai chicken salad. Very friendly service and locals on adjoining tables.

That meant we couldn’t try out SOJI which is a newish vegan restaurant on the road back to the metro station. It has a lovely menu and was busy when we walked past. It’s getting good (and grateful!) reviews from visiting vegan clients so now on my list. At 44 boulevard Philippon. Open Tues-Sat, lunch and evenings.
