This foundation, dedicated to Provencal art, has been exhibiting in different venues in Marseille for 20 years. Its final home is the superbly renovated gallery in the old maritime sanitary station (opp MuCEM) where it has room to spread out and show its unique collection.
The current exhibition gives us tastes of many previous shows: there are the rural painters of Provence; those working in Marseille, along the coast and during exotic north African visits; artists like Jean Cocteau who relocated south; right up to modern days with some interesting abstracts.
It’s well worth catching before it ends next month.
The Musée Regards de Provence is open Tues-Sun, 10-18, and don’t forget its rooftop restaurant for lunch or just a quick coffee. Maritime views guaranteed!
