Good news for travellers – Marseille Provence Airport is installing facial recognition technology to speed travellers through passport control.
There will be 25 ‘SAS’ gates throughout the airport by end January, with 5 apparently already operational in T1. (I’ll report on my experience when I pass through there next week).
Eligibility is restricted to 28 nationalities: EU + Iceland, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Norway. No idea what will happen to us Brits post-Brexit. Yet another imponderable!
I hope this will roll out quickly as it has made such a difference to queues at Heathrow. More: https://www.routesonline.com/airports/2470/marseille-provence-airport/news/282116/marseille-provence-airport-improves-boarder-checks/
Don’t get too excited, there have been in Nice for sometime but never seen them in use!!!!!
Waiting to see what happens when I travel next week…..
