The plan, according to La Provence, is that the redevelopment of the ‘Trois Places’ will be completed by mid-April. At that point, the food and artisan market will move back there, while the textile and brocante stalls will be ‘elsewhere’, at an unspecified location.
However, critics call this a blow for the businesses around the ‘Trois Places’ who no doubt benefit from the additional footfall of the full market.
But the majority of food stall-holders aren’t happy about moving back to their original venue: some of them have doubled their takings since moving during summer 2016 to the area around the Rotonde and cours Sextius.
It will be interesting to see what happens next!
Meanwhile, if you are visiting markets in Aix this coming weekend, these centre ville car parks are free: Rotonde, Carnot, Mejanes, Pasteur, Signoret, Cardeur, Mignet and Bellegarde….as well as elsewhere in the Metropole. I don’t have times unfortunately.
