I recently posted about both MuCEM and the museums in Avignon wheeling out items from their archives, and now it looks like the three municipal museums in Aix are getting in on the act: their theme is vegetation.
’51 Nuances de Vert’ is the show organised by the Musée des Tapisseries and the Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle. This latter closed its doors in centre ville a few years ago so it will be good to see some of their collection. The theme also links to the first floor tapestries and the costumes from past July opera performances.
When: now til 13 Jan
Where: Musee des Tapisseries,28 place des Martyrs de la Resistance, Aix.
‘Allons Voir Si La Rose’ promises an explosion of vegetation from all branches of the visual arts across the centuries. Paintings, drawings, prints, photography, sculptures, ceramics and furniture have been taken from the reserves to illustrate the theme.
When: 12 October til 3 March
Where: Pavillion de Vendome, 32 rue Celony, Aix.
Voici des Fleurs, des Fruits, des Feuilles, et des Branches: the Musée du Vieil Aix will show items of architecture and the decorative arts in general, linking them to the museum’s own 18th c features.
When: 27 October to 22 April
Where: Musee du Vieil Aix, 17 rue Gaston de Saporta, Aix.
