The new Metropole has inherited 15 different transport networks and has decided to combine them all under one new brand identity. And yes it will affect our buses here in Aix. So this is what we need to get used to seeing…
It will be rolled out onto all buses, bikes, metro trains, trams, water-navettes across the region which, with 1.8m population is the largest in France.
In the photo (above) you will see ‘Le Car +’ which differs from ‘Le Car’ in that they are more comfortable, frequent and have dedicated lanes (in other words the current navy blue Aix-Marseille navettes).
The intention is that by 2025, 9/10 of the population will be within 10 minutes of the network, either a stop, a parking relay, or transport hub, though the 10 minutes isn’t defined.
This new visual identity is being introduced to new travel cards this month – and we will be seeing more and more as time goes on.
They have taken the pictograms from the umbrella AMP branding and scrunched them together to make a logo for the network.

It all makes a lot of sense, especially as there will be ticketing and promotions across the new network. But I will miss my local Aix buses that have that nice big swish which morphs into Sainte-Victoire!
