Now with a new leader, Martine Vassel, the Metropole Aix-Marseille-Provence seems to be branding itself far and wide. The logo though has always puzzled me, which really isn’t what logos are supposed to do!
What on earth does it mean and why has Aix got a hole in its X?
It was designed by an agency 2C Comm from Valence and this is their explanation.
‘The pictogrammes represent the sky, nature, hills and the sea, without forgetting the sun which slips like a wink into the typography’: so that’s the hole in our X.
‘There are four colours: pastel blue, pastel green, orange and blue which are characteristic of the region. The signature « l’Audace par nature » echoes the nature and temperament of the inhabitants who are moving forward, innovating and believing in the future’.
