The Bastide Rose is the beautiful honey-coloured home of Poppy Salinger who was married to JFK’s press secretary, journalist and writer Pierre Salinger. It stands by the translucent river Sorgue and is the setting for an annual sculpture show. This year, its theme is Amour, in harmony with the MP2018 programme.
As well as a small museum to the memory of Pierre Salinger, there is a boutique hotel and a restaurant.
It’s in a lovely spot, near Le Thor, which is 17km from Avignon. http://www.bastiderose.com/
The exhibition which opens today should be fascinating …if the eye-opening poster is anything to go by!
