Opening on 2nd June, the Foundation Carmignac will display modern art in a vast (1500 sq m) gallery inside a Provencal villa on the beautiful island of Porquerolles.

The collection has been put together by financier Edouard Carmignac and includes works from the American Pop Art School, among them paintings and sculptures by Warhol, Lichtenstein, Koons, Basquiat as well as modern art from Europe and developing countries. Outside there is a 15 hectare sculpture park. Three hundred works in total….and lots of plans to develop this centre for contemporary art even further.
It looks stunning – and is said to be walkable from the port/village where the Hyeres boat comes in.
Many thanks for this info to Sheila who describes it in more detail on her essential-reading website: http://www.marvellous-provence.com/news#carmignac. Official website here: http://www.fondationcarmignac.com/fr
