Events are happening across the region as villages celebrate the spring.
Rognes is having a Fete des Vins, their 34th. I hope the weather is kinder to them than for their ‘Fete de la Chevre’ last month. It’s such a nice Provencal village and they put a lot into making these events fun for all the family. Sunday 20th May.
Trets will be having the South Vintage Festival, a fairly recent event, at the Domaine du Moulin de l’Arc. Lots of American cars, vintage deco, DJs, rock ‘n roll. 70 exhibitors, 8 concerts. 19-21st May. http://www.southvintagefestival.com/
Back to more traditional pursuits, Banon is celebrating its famous cheese on Sunday. It is quite a drive from Aix but it is a lovely village in beautiful rolling countryside. Their Fete du Fromage this year has the Jura as the invitee d’honneur.
While there, you could also visit Le Bleuet which is an extraordinarily large bookshop for such a small village – Tripadvisor says it’s the #1 attraction out of 1 attractions in Banon! It’s had a bumpy time, closing down occasionally, but I read it IS open and will be open on Sunday. It will also be organising a event to mark 50 years since the events of May 1968. Saturday 26th May. http://www.lebleuet.fr/
