Aix’s Parc Jourdan will be hosting the art fair, SM’ART, from Friday 18th May. Over 24,000 visitors are expected to browse the 200+ exhibitors – artists, photographers, gallery-owners, sculptors.
It’s 10€ entry, reduced to 7€ for online bookings: https://www.aixeninfo.fr/post/814-13eme-salon-mediterraneen-d-art-contemporain-sm-art-du-17-au-21-mai-2018-aix-en-provence
Art will be in the air in centre ville over the weekend when 4000 local children will contribute to C’est Sud, the annual collaboration between the departments of Education and Culture. There will be music and dance, art shows and circus performances. Events will be taking place in the open across town. Look out for Le Grand Coloriage de la Ville – 5 cartoonists have drawn Aix on a 10-metre long panorama. Local children will be colouring it in. Top of the cours Mirabeau, 14:00 Saturday.
Later that evening, it’s the ‘Nuit des Musées’ when the municipal museums stay open late and have all sorts of special attractions, usually in my experience musical. The Musee Granet will be giving students the opportunity to show their artistic/musical talents under the banner ‘Les Lycéens au Musée’. Animations for the family. Open til midnight.
