Just announced, an exhibition of the work of Ai Weiwei, opening at MuCEM on June 20th.

Ai Weiwei at Tate Modern with his ceramic sunflower seeds
Having seen his show at the Royal Academy in London last year, I expect it will be stimulating and baffling…but unmissable. According to MuCEM, they will be adding objects from their permanent collection to invite visitors ‘to question the opposing concepts of Orient and Occident, the original and reproduction, art and artisanal, destruction and conservation’. MuCEM announcements are quite often baffling in themselves! I look forward to finding out more….the exhibition will be on until November 12th.
There is already an installation by Ai Weiwei in Provence: the vineyard at Chateau Lacoste has his ‘Ruyi Path’, a winding pathway constructed from cobbles salvaged from the docks at Marseille, an area where immigrants had walked over for years. The Ruyi Path symbolises power and good fortune in Chinese history.
The domaine and arts centre at Chateau Lacoste is open daily. Well worth a visit.
