According to new stats from ’40 Millions d’Automobilistes’, car-thieves in Bouches-du-Rhone have different tastes to the national criminal.
Here in Bouches-du-Rhone, the most-nicked car is the Renault Clio 4, followed by the VW Tiguan, Renault Twingo II, Mini Cabriolet R57 and then the Land Rover Range Rover.
Nationally, the criminal’s favourite is the Smart Fortwo II, for the fourth year in succession. Then follow the Land Rover Range Rover, the Range Rover Evoque, Ford Fiesta, Renault Clio 4. Apparently the Smart car is quite easy to take to pieces to sell.
The article in La Provence explains that they cut the data, not in volume, but in relation to the numbers of that model in circulation. Villains go for small cars, it says, or ‘bling-bling’ and top of the range.
Thieves in the Var, like Seine-Saint-Denis, prefer the Range Rover, in the Vaucluse they go for the Citroen DS3 while in the Alpes de Haute Provence, it’s the Audi A1 which is the most nicked car!
