Aix: Rich Concert of J S Bach Cantatas – Friday 24 Nov
November 22, 2017 by aixcentric
If you love Bach, you should hurry along to the Chapelle du Sacre Coeur, 22 rue Lacepede in centre-ville Aix this Friday evening, 24 November.
One of its organisers explains, ‘It’s truly a “spectacle” by the Academie Bach Aix led by its artistic director Ulrich Studer: three cantatas in a single evening.
The program starts with a brief talk (“Mise en Oreille”) about the music at 18h30, followed by a light 6 euro supper (“Mise en Bouche”) at 19h15.
At 20h30 Studer will take the podium with Michel Brun, director of the Toulouse Baroque Ensemble, conducting the soloists, choirs, and the orchestra of the Academie’.
‘In the context of the Reformation, now celebrating its 500th anniversary, the music of these cantatas has an impact as much emotional as religious.’
More Details:
- BWV 12 “Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen”, Weeping, wailing, worries, woes
