Let’s start in the lovely Isle Sur la Sorgue where the elegant Hotel Campredon has just opened its new exhibition of the work of Jacques-Henri Lartigue, one of France’s most famous photographers. I tend to associate him with sepia or black and white works, mainly in the early years of the 20th century, but he lived long and grew to experiment with colour – the subject of this exhibition. ‘Jacques-Henri Lartigue, La Vie en Couleurs’ is on now until 18th Feb. Tues-Sun 10-13, 14:30-18:30.

Next off to Miramas. I posted on this new shopping centre last month when I visited and was taken with the place. (https://aixcentric.com/2017/09/06/a-new-shopping-experience/)
At the time, their art gallery was showing the sculptures of Rodin, and now they have the first French exhibition of the work of photographer Michel Haddi.

‘Pop Style Icons’ shows his portraits of stars taken for magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Vanity Fair. Looks interesting and you can eat and do a bit of shopping into the bargain! Open every day exc Sunday. Exhibition runs until 10th February 2018.
Not far away is the Musée Ziem at Martigues, one of my favourite venues for a reliably interesting local exhibition. After their summer of showing colourful paintings of the town, they have switched their emphasis to photography.
The subject of the exhibition is the Etang de Berre, which was hardly photographed at all until the 1990s. Then photographers began to take an interest in it and ‘Regard sur l’Etang de Berre’ shows the work of seven of them. All the details are here: 2017_regards-etang_depliant This museum has additional activities – for instance there is a photographic balade around the Etang with a photographer on November 26th, and they have some colourful ateliers for little ones.
So three very different photographic exhibitions, but in the same general direction, so providing a stimulating day out from Aix.
