Following on from my post about Airbnb marketing ‘Experiences’ in Provence, I’d like to thank Rebecca for giving me a heads-up on ‘Guest in the City’.
Their offer to visitors is this: ‘ Let Guest in the City introduce you to a new way of travelling in France! Reliable and friendly local people would love to help you to discover their area. They will open their homes to you, teach you to cook their favorite dishes, and even shop the local farmer’s markets.
This is your chance to meet interesting people and make new friends all over France’. Having had a look at their website, it seems that there are several interesting ‘Experiences’ on offer in and around Aix, and it looks easy to register if you would like to host visitors.
Their website is: https://www.guestinthecity.com/
I should also add a line about the Global Greeters whose volunteers at towns and cities worldwide walk visitors around their neighbourhoods. We had a fascinating tour of Montmartre which I described here: https://aixcentric.com/2013/09/23/my-morning-with-a-paris-greeter/ and nearer to home, a trip along the shoreline of Marseille: https://aixcentric.com/2013/11/13/my-morning-with-a-marseille-greeter/

Both organisations provide friendly local insights to give an added dimension to a holiday-stay!
