This is a useful 6–times-yearly publication from La Provence. It has lots of info on recommended restaurants, the latest on the local chefs, and details of new products.
This spring issue for instance has:
- the fascinating story of Yazid Ichemrahen who, at 25 years old, was part of the team who won the title of world champion Chef-Patissier. His new venture, Patisserie Vernet in Avignon, provides traditional recipes but also ones he develops. This spring he is experimenting with honey, raspberry and violet flavours. Each cake is 4.50€ but, during the last hour, it’s two offertes for every two bought. Good marketing too…hurray!
- news of a Turkish sociologist at Cambridge who left academia to do a stint with Gérard Passedat at his restaurants in MuCEM. This month (to 12 April) she is responsible for a special menu at both the restaurant and café….and also an unusual sandwich at the kiosk. All Istanbul-influenced.
- new place to eat in Marseille combined with photo-expos. Owner Jac Demars has opened Le BistroGraphe in a former guitar shop in bd de la Corderie. Here he will be drawing on his restaurant experience as well as indulging his passion for photography. All freshly cooked food (plat du jour 15-18€) in ‘le quartier qui bouge le plus a Marseille’.
Right, that’s three things on my list for the next couple of weeks!
A Table (#27, April-Juin 2017) is now on sale in town. 3,50€ for over 90 pages.
