The Red Bull Crashed Ice event will take place in Marseille on 13-14th January, kicking off the 2017 European Year of Sport programme. It’s the first time it’s been held in France and thousands are expected. The track starts up at the Intercontinental Hotel from where the contestants hurtle down to the finish line at the Vieux Port. Let’s hope they can stop. Here’s a video showing the track in 3D. Looks terrifying! http://www.redbullcrashedice.com/en_INT/video/marseille-3d-track-view
The website is saying that the event is ‘sold out’….I guess that’s the seating….but I understand it will be televised on France 3 on the 14th which might be a warmer option for spectators.
Now the snow is falling, the annual ‘Train des Neiges’ service is back in action, taking skiers from Marseille, calling at Aix and Manosque stations, up to the Alpes du Sud. Coaches then take the skiers further up to 24 different resorts. Weekends only. It’s a very early start but one way to miss the traffic and at 20 euros per adult, seems quite a bargain.
