The ‘dig’ being carried out ahead of the redevelopment of the Place de la Madeleine has already yielded results in that skeletons are being exhumed and taken for examination. As expected, there was a 16-18th century cemetery beside the church. The archaeologists are also hoping to find objects or fragments of clothing to help them understand more detail of life in Aix during this time.
Warning – you may find this video from the town website somewhat grisly:

Lynne…thank you sooo much for all your writing…it’s fantastic that someone like yourself, has taken such an interest in beautiful Aix.
Went to the bookstore the other day, and I have bought your book, and at some point I would love you to sign it…it will be a Christmas present for my hubby…
All the best and hope to see you soon again.

Fantastic ! So interesting to see this up close. Thanks.
Isn’t it? I wonder what else they’ll dig up?
Fascinating, Lynne. Thanks for sharing.
Yes..it’s just like when they were digging tunnels for Crossrail in London. I hope they find some objects in Aix that will help them learn more about that period.
