Once the rain has gone through tomorrow, it looks like the coast will be sunny for the weekend – a good time then to visit Cassis, especially as the Italian market is on. It’s not a huge market but a collection of typically Italian stalls, this year from Portofino, sister city to Cassis. There will be 30 craftsmen and producers selling food, wine, leather-goods, shawls and gloves. There will be aperitifs and entertainment – it runs each day 9:00-20:00 and ends on Sunday (13th).
It’s the 8th in the series and each year there is a super-stylish poster. I understand that this year, posters from all the past markets will be on sale for 5€.
The small Musée Municipal has, along with local artifacts, some paintings of Cassis done by Provencal masters including Raphael Ponson. They are very happy to have a new painting, ‘Le Port de Cassis a Voile Rouge’ by the late woman artist Christ Vivanti who worked in the town. The exhibition of local paintings is on until 25th February.
Cassis has a really switched-on tourist office. Here is their agenda for December which has lots of good Christmas events: markets, Provencal crèche, skating…agenda-cassis-decembre-2016
