Lots to do this coming weekend. If you want to get the 64pp programme for the events in Aix, you need to ask at the tourist office as they are kept behind the counter.
But it’s an opportunity to go to different places and take advantage of new experiences. For instance, over at the Pont du Gard, alongside an expo of Roman life (based on lots of local finds by archaeologists), there is the offer of a ‘traversée de la canalisation’, crossing on the top level. http://www.pontdugard.fr/fr/evenement/les-journees-du-patrimoine-2016
There are loads of events in Marseille plus free entry at some museums. Here are the details: http://www.evous.fr/Les-Journees-du-Patrimoine-a-Marseille-programme-lieux-1136627.html
Over at Le Cannet, the fabulous Musée Bonnard is offering free entry on Saturday and Sunday, and that includes the current exhibition ‘Entre Chiens et Chats’, 50 Bonnard paintings which feature animals.
At Grasse, the town’s museums are free entry for the weekend – http://www.journees-du-patrimoine.com/SITE/villa-musee-jean-honore-fragonard—44273.htm and this link will take you to loads of other opportunities in the Alpes-Maritimes. http://www.journees-du-patrimoine.com/DEPARTEMENT/journees-patrimoine-06-alpes-maritimes.htm
In the other direction, Avignon promises lots for visitors this weekend: ‘Monuments, museums and churches in Avignon are open to the public. Entrance is free or discounted for private museums and venues. Monuments and museums propose access to their permanent collections in relation to this year’s theme. There are also exhibitions and tours, concerts, workshops and readings … Free guided tours reveal Avignon in all its splendour’.
