It seems that lots of locals have been cashing in on the Euro 2016 football tournament in Marseille…to the tune of 18 million euros according to the company.

Flats in the Vieux Port are particularly sought after
‘La Provence’ today carries info on residents who have cleaned up their apartments (un menage de dengue!) and set off to camp with friends. One interviewee is pulling in 380 euros a night, firstly from a group of 5 English suppporters, thankfully impeccably behaved, and from today has Icelandic journalists in his flat.
A total of 38,000 travellers have booked beds in Marseille via Airbnb, with 12% in the Vieux Port and 10% on the Corniche, two favourite locations.
In fact 36% of people across France who are letting out their properties are new to doing so – the figure is 30% in Marseille.
At last that is some good news for some coming out of the football contest. Here’s the full article: http://www.laprovence.com/article/edition-marseille/3988363/jackpot-pour-les-loueurs-dairbnb.html
