Consul’Art is a celebration of links between Marseille and 40 different countries whose art will be exhibited at the Maison de l’Artisanat et des Metiers d’Art. The opening event is on Friday evening at 18:30 and will be attended by various consuls. And, to celebrate 10 years of twinning between Marseille and Glasgow, the city will be represented by Mme Sadie Docherty, Lord Provost of Glasgow.

The exhibition runs until 23rd July.
Over in Nice, a new exhibition of photography by the lyrical French photographer Jacques Henri Lartigue opens. ‘Un Monde Flottante’ concentrates on photos which capture moments of happiness which sounds to be an uplifting experience! I hope to see this next week and will report.

In Saint-Tropez, the Annonciade has a new exhibition of the paintings of Othon Friesz who the tourist office website calls a ‘singular beast’. I couldn’t figure out what they meant until I read the title of the expo: ‘Othon Friesz Un Fauve Singulier’.
Not an artist I’ve seen before and will be interested to visit this. The exhibition starts on 18th June and runs throughout the summer until 17th October. The gallery is in an ancient church, perched beside the harbour, and has an excellent collection of local paintings by Signac, Matisse, Marquet, and so on.
