For those learning French, Kristi Espinasse’s blog French Word A Day is a must. Our bloggeuse lives with her French husband and teenagers in a vineyard near Bandol and relates incidents from her daily life while introducing useful bits of vocabulary to her myriad followers – Check it out here: http://french-word-a-day.com/
Sometimes she provides a recipe and I followed one this week – a gluten-free chestnut cake which she said her guests had loved – and we loved it too.It only has three ingredients so I think the author of Simplissime (see https://aixcentric.com/2016/05/12/news-on-frances-fastest-selling-cook-book/ ) would approve. Here goes:
500g crème de marrons vanilla, 100g butter, three eggs
- Over a medium heat, melt butter and stir in marrons
- Add beaten eggs
- Pour into greased lined cake tin
- Cook for 45 mins at 150C
Serve with strawberries or sprinkled with icing sugar or pecans. And here’s the result. Delicious!
So, it’s almost like a flavoured flan?
Yes, quite rich!
It was delicious and am looking forward to trying to make it myself!
Very simple too which is always a big plus!
Delicious indeed! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
I hope you enjoy it…
