If you have passed the Parc Jourdan this week, you’ll have seen the white marquees lined up, fluttering in the wind, ready for this week’s SM’ART launch. It’s France’s second largest contemporary art fair, bringing together more than 200 visual artists, painters, sculptors, photographers, videographers and engravers to show their work. It’s the 15th annual event – and last year was a great success:

Elsewhere in town, C’Est Sud, is a creative festival for the young Aixois. It’s an unpredictable event – in the past, the Cours Mirabeau has been lined with cases showing the paintings of local school kids, there have been street art sessions and I’ve even witnessed a magical evening when the young ones assembled large cardboard boxes and built a massive bridge over the cours Mirabeau! Who knows what will happen this weekend? There’s a link here to the official programme: http://www.culture-13.fr/agenda/c-est-sud-35558.html
