Monday – sees the first day of ‘Chagall and the Circus’ over at the Musee Yves Brayer in Les Baux. It’s an expo of 50 post-war prints and the timing is great as you can combine it with a trip to the nearby Carrieres de Lumieres to see the Chagall son et lumiere. Details here: http://www.yvesbrayer.com/index.php?elem=38&p1=11
And remember it’s the first day of the Open tennis event in Aix.
Tuesday – there’s the talk on filming in Provence, organised by the MAABN (https://aixcentric.com/2016/04/25/aix-talk-on-filming-in-provence-may-3rd/) and also the Polyglot Club is having a meeting at O’Neill’s bar in rue d’Italie at 20:00hrs. Details on their website.
- Wednesday – it’s the first day of the new exhibition at the Hotel Caumont. It’s ‘Turner et la Couleur’ and what colour! It will bring together 130 works by this fore-runner of Impressionism, many from Tate Britain and the Turner Contemporary at Margate. It’s on daily until 18th September. Make sure you go hungry to enjoy the wonderful patisserie in the elegant café or in the equally elegant garden.
It’s all change at the cinema with a couple of interesting films to enjoy.
First of all, there is a tribute to Prince with a showing of ‘Purple Rain’ at the Mazarin. And ‘Eddie the Eagle’ comes to Aix’s Cezanne cinema. He was Britain’s very unlikely ski-jumper and sporting hero – and in fact the film did well at
the UK box office with warm plaudits from the critics. Click here for the trailer: http://www.lescinemasaixois.com/films/eddie-the-eagle.
Much to enjoy this week!
