Well of course this being France, the first thing to do on 1st May is to buy a little posy of lilies of the valley – les muguets – for good luck for the year ahead.
According to the news this week, their supply has been a challenge: most of them are grown around Nantes and the chilly weather has impeded their growth. It must be very difficult for them relying on getting the flowers ready for such a specific deadline…
In town….
- The Ironman triathlon is taking place. It’s a 1.2 km swim out at Peyrolles, a 90km bike ride across to Aix, then a half-marathon which loops around the town and La Torse park three times. The marquees are already up around the Rotonde with stalls up the cours Mirabeau. Fun for spectators.
