Yet again I wonder how all this is affordable …compared to our base in England where we have been using the same small, chilly pool for decades.
But this new swimming complex looks as though it will be lovely, so lucky for Venelles and for Aix too.It will have:
- a sports pool 33×21, dimensions designed for synchro and water-polo
- a play pool of 250m2 with water currents and play-balls
- paddling area for the little ones
- a ‘nordique’ pool outside, heated to 28C
- views of the Sainte-Victoire from the water!
Wow! Plus:

The roof will echo the shape of Sainte-Victoire
- 150m2 play area
- parking for 266 cars and 12 buses
- space to ‘welcome’ 1500 people (hopefully not all swimming?)
- cost 3,5 euros, open daily exc for school/club sessions.
It will open in July and will cost 27,5 million euros, paid for by the CPA (Communauté d’Agglomération Pays d’Aix).
It will be in the nick of time in fact as the big Piscine Yves Blanc (near the Torse) closes in September for two years’ renovation and at the same time, the pool in Pertuis will close until 2017. Popularity guaranteed!
