‘Chagall – Songes d’Une Nuit d’été’ is an inspired choice for the new show at the Carrieres de Lumieres at Les Baux de Provence. If you haven’t visited before, here are details: https://aixcentric.com/2016/02/24/chagall-at-the-carrieres-de-lumieres/)
The treatment of the paintings is certainly inventive with swirling flying lovers, moving musicians and violin-playing goats, and black and white photography of twenties Paris when Chagall worked there. His mosaics are accompanied by tiny pieces of mosaic scattering across the walls and floor, and his stained glass windows grow colourfully in front of your eyes.
There’s a great opportunity to catch up with past subjects this summer when they will re-show ‘Monet, Renoir, Chagall, voyages en Méditerrannée’ 2013, ‘Klimt et Vienne, un siècle d’or et de couleurs’ 2014, and ‘Michel-ange, Léonard de Vinci, Raphael, les Géants de la Renaissance’, 2015.
