Bus news! Aix is splashing out 66,2 million euros on a BHNS service which will run from Krypton parking up through the university area to Jas de Bouffan. This Bus a Haut Niveau de Service will be like a tram but will run on wheels on a special lane – apparently that’s cheaper. And there’s to be a dedicated bus-service from the new Parking Malacrida (Aix Val St Andre). It will follow the no. 4
route towards town then veer over to the top of the cours Gambetta. To save this navette getting embroiled in all the traffic, there will be a lot of work to change a roundabout, make one-way systems near Casino and put in traffic lights that favour the bus. This won’t be in place until 2017 so until then, you have to dodge across the traffic to pick up the 3 or 4 buses to centre-ville.
You can read a blow-by-blow account of all this in the latest Aix Magazine, click here for the pdf: alm_site-2
Just a couple of things for this weekend: firstly the opening on Saturday 28th March of an exhibition of paintings by Swiss artist Hans Berger at the Chapelle des Penitents Blancs where the Collection Jean Planque is based. There will be 30 ‘powerful and colourful works’ on show. Read about it here: http://www.museegranet-aixenprovence.fr/www/expositions-temporaires-fiche.php?menu=ecmoment&smenu=26
It’s also the weekend of the Journées Européennes des Metiers d’Art and over 200 craftspeople in Provence will be opening their doors to anyone who wants to go in and see them at work. Website here:
